From 3 years ago. . .We are SO excited to let you know that Spilling The Beans is back in Australia these days, speaking at the GCR Coffee Leaders Symposium here in Melbourne on May 13th and enjoying five full days of coffee talks during the Melbourne International Coffee Exhibition at the 3rd edition of the MICE. In honor of this week’s event Down Under we are pleased to republish one of our 5 most popular posts of all time, the Coffee of The Day review of one of Australia’s very own locally grown coffees.
MAY 20, 2014–A tiny coffee producing country in the world of coffee, Australia has a long story for production with coffee cultivation initially introduced in the 1880s. But as the country Down Under quickly moved ahead with industralization, coffee production was suspended and the coffee land was replaced with other agricultural crops. This is until 1987 when Ian and Marion MacLaughlin on the long way from their native Zimbabwe migrated to Australia and restarted coffee production at Skybury Estate in Mareeba, just west of Cairns in northern Queensland. My Coffee of The Day is a medium roast houseblend, with balanced body, mild acidity and a smooth round aftertaste.

This Skybury coffee is a great mid-day choice for it’s balance. It has some earthy notes I like to combine with milk chocolate on the side.
