The Rwanda genocide broke out at the height of the coffee harvest that year in April and May and left the crop completely ruined and total output that year dived to 12,000 bags. But production figures are slowly but firmly starting to come back. In Rwanda’s current 2012-13 harvest Rwanda’s coffee production is according to the International Coffee Organization forecast to have reached 433,000 bags, one of the best results since the genocide.![]()
