In honor of my many wonderful coffee friends in Guatemala and their outstanding commitment to quality, and as the annual Cup of Excellence is coming up, my coffee today is an Anacafe blend of the finest beans from the northern Guatemalan coffee province of Huehuetenango. This region was virtually unknown to many in the market until the CoE first was held in Guatemala and HueHue coffees stormed onto the scene taking most of the top prices. The region has since then continued to grow more famous thanks to Don Arturo of the farm El Injerto, which has come in 1st place no less than 8 times.
The picture here is taken from the top of the coffee mountains at the El Injerto estate. Huehue coffee is extremely full-bodied with a very pointed acidity and incredible character in aroma, cup and aftertaste. It is considered one of the 3 to 5 best coffees in the world by all cuppers and roasters I have ever spoken to!
