The International Coffee Organization has raised its damage estimate for the losses in the current 2012-13 harvest in Central America to 2.7 million 60-kilogram bags from the initial figure for losses to reach 2.3 million bags. The new figure come following the visit by ICO Executive Director Roberio Silva to Central America in late April where he toured rust-affected regions in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua and discussed emergency efforts with local officials.
