Vietnam has today by far consolidated its position as the world’s second largest coffee grower and it’s one of only a handful of producing countries that in recent years has embarked on renovation and replanting programs. But contrary to market believe actual new plantings in new coffee lands is limitted and the growth in production in recent years comes almost exclusively from land that was renovated and replanted and now has started re-entering the production cycle. Thanks to the first significant renovation and replanting efforts in over 20 years, however, continued coffee can be expected from Vietnam in coming years, in part because Vietnam remains the coffee producing country in the world with the highest average yields of some 35 bags per hectare.
