Vietnam first started growing coffee in 1856, decades before other coffee producing countries much more famous for its beans like Kenya and Tanzania embarked on coffee cultivation, yet as a direct result of the war it wasn’t until the early 1970s that Vietnam started working on expanding the coffee area more aggressively.
